The Frontline : Acapulco Cafe - Lozells Rd, Handsworth, Birmingham, UK - 1980s...... Some WICKED footage of how UK frontlines used to run in the 1980s.... The first section is filmed from a Police car and follows a police patrol outside the Acapulco Cafe and shows how the police back in the 1980s used to still be hesitant about walking into Afro - Caribbean meeting places...you even hear the policeman say ' That's the first beer can to be thrown at our patrol car' !! - you also hear the guys hanging outside the cafe telling the Police to move on .......and once the patrol car drives off more beer cans are thrown at it and you hear someone saying 'WE RULE THE AREA!!' (This footage was taken from BBC TV programme 'A Policewoman's Lot' - shown in 1988) The second section is rare footage tak...

toptable video - When the smart, sleek City Cafe went up in Birmingham a while back, hopes were high for a new destination to meet, dine, and hang out, City Cafe has surpassed them all. The very smart and light dining room, with its sleek lines and modern decor, is a terrific spot, as is the terrace outside on the piazza. Head chef Colin Layfield has come with a wealth of delicious experience, including time at Le Petit Blanc, and has created four tempting menus, including a worth-a-trek vegetarian one. The cuisine could be termed modern international.

Manchester is a city of firsts. It was the epicenter of the Industrial Revolution, the place where mankind first split the atom, and the birthplace of the modern computer. The many chapters of Manchester’s story come together in Castlefield. Here you’ll find the remains of a Roman fort, Bridgewater Canal, and some of the mills which once generated incredible wealth for the city. In the background, Beetham Tower is a symbol of a city again on the rise. Manchester’s crowning glory is its Town Hall, built to rival the great buildings of London. During the Industrial Revolution, Manchester’s merchants went on a spending spree, scouring the world in search of cultural treasures to fill their stately homes. Many of these treasures now reside in the Manchester Art Gallery and the Manchester M...

But in the last year UK BikeLife culture – where young scooter riders upload videos of themselves wheelie-ing down motorways and through industrial estates – has exploded, with the scene’s leaders picking up thousands of YouTube and Instagram followers in the process. These British riders are beginning to receive international attention, not least from Baltimore’s notorious dirt bike club, the 12 O’Clock Boys. Although they may lack the CCs of their American counterparts, they’ve done a good job of making up for it with charisma and a dedication to the underdog of the two-wheeled world: the humble moped. In London Bikelife, Daisy-May Hudson lets a nostalgia fo...
The Peaky Blinders were a criminal gang based in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century and, to a lesser extent, in the early 20th century. Philip Gooderson, author of The Gangs of Birmingham, states that the Peaky Blinders originated as a specific gang, but the term later became a generic label. An earlier gang known as the Cheapside Sloggers had evolved in the 1870s, and the term "Sloggers" (meaning fighters) had already become a generic local label for street gangs when the Peaky Blinders emerged at the end of the century in Adderley Street, in the Bordesley and Small Heath areas, which was an extremely deprived slum section of Birmingham at the time. The Peaky Blinders were distinguished by their sartorial style, unlike earlier gangs. Notable members included David Taylor (impri...
Birmingham City Centre 19.8.1995 People watching is the act of observing people and their interactions, usually without their knowledge. It involves picking up on idiosyncrasies to try to guess at another person's story. This includes speech in action, relationship interactions, body language, expressions, clothing and activities. Eavesdropping may accompany the activity, though is not required. For some people it is considered a hobby, but for many others it is a subconscious activity they partake in everyday without even realizing Filmed by Mtv media 1995
